Whole prey rabbit
Why Feed Whole Prey Rabbit?
Rabbit is a lean protein that offers your carnivore a completely different prey animal from the more common poultry and livestock proteins found in many diets.
Fed whole, rabbit provides meat, edible bone, organs, connective tissue, skin, fur, and the other naturally occurring parts of the animal together in one package.
It's an excellent option for adding both protein variety and whole-prey variety to a raw-feeding rotation.
What About the Fur?
It's supposed to be there!
Fur and feathers are a normal part of consuming prey and provide indigestible animal fiber along with a completely different texture than most raw foods.
Don't be surprised if you find fur or feathers left behind, scattered around the feeding area, or coming out the other end later. That's all part of feeding the animal as nature packaged it.
For easier cleanup, many raw feeders choose to offer whole prey outdoors, on a washable surface, or in an easy-to-clean feeding area.
Feeding Guidance
Whole prey can be offered as part of a varied raw diet and provides a unique way to introduce both nutritional and feeding variety.
Unlike a ground product, intact prey encourages your carnivore to work through different tissues and textures—chewing, tearing, pulling, and figuring out how to eat the animal along the way. This can turn mealtime into an opportunity for both nourishment and enrichment.
Always supervise while feeding whole prey and select prey that is appropriately sized for your pet. If your carnivore is new to whole prey, introduce it gradually and allow them time to figure it out.
Feed raw. Never cook whole prey, as it contains bone.
Storage & Handling
Keep frozen until ready to use.
Thaw in the refrigerator before feeding and keep refrigerated once thawed. Stays good in the refrigerator for about 3 days after thawing.
Feed raw. Do not cook, as whole prey contains bone.
