Raw Feeding Chart

How Much Raw Pet Food Should You Feed Your Carnivore?

How do you know if you are feeding the correct amount? Well, that is what we are going to address in this article. If your pet is a bit underweight or extremely active start at the higher end of the feeding scale. If they are a bit overweight or not very active then you can start at the lower end of the scale.

Use These Charts:

  1. Find your pet. Dog, cat, ferret?
  2. Find their weight on the left side of the chart.
  3. From left to right, after the pet weight column, you will see the amount to feed per day from the smaller amount to the higher amount that is recommended for that weight.

For feeding Raw Dog Food:

For adult dogs, it is recommended that you feed between 2-3% of their ideal body weight daily. For puppies, feeding between 4-6% of their current weight daily is recommended.

What Is Their Ideal Weight?

The best way to know if your carnivore is a good weight is to look at them & observe them. Be honest with yourself too. Does your pet look a little too chunky? Maybe it is time to feed them a little bit less. Are they a bit underweight? Perhaps it is time to feed a bit more. For most pets (though this can vary by breed) you should be able to easily feel the ribs without feeling a lot of excess fat & from the top you should see a waist. If the ribs are not only easy to feel but visible this could be a sign that your pet is underweight. Moreover, if you look at the pet from the top you might see a very defined waist and large hips. Overweight pets tend to have no visible waist & their ribs are very difficult to feel.

Also, know that the numbers above are a starting guide for average pets. If your pet has a higher metabolism or is a carnivore athlete & needs to eat more than the higher recommended amount that is okay. If your pet is very inactive & needs less than the lesser recommended amount that is okay too, each pet is an individual!
