Elimination Diet

When you suspect your pet has a food allergy or intolerance, often presenting as skin or digestive issues, your first step may be to conduct something that veterinarians call a “Dietary Elimination Trial,” or Elimination Diet for short. The process is simple: Eliminate the foods your pet typically eats, and feed them something they haven't eaten before. This is often accomplished with novel proteins and limited ingredient foods. If you’ve been feeding kibble or complete fresh food, eliminating the carbohydrates is key.

That’s where raw prey feeding begins. Our whole-prey raw products are pure, single-protein preys, with no grain or vegetable fillers. But, you may also find that allergies exist to common proteins such as beef and chicken as well. That’s where our collection of novel proteins comes in. Each containing only one type of prey, no mixed proteins here! To start an elimination diet, introduce one of these proteins until the immune system settles down.  Then, gradually add in another protein and see how your pet does. Eventually, you want to be able to feed at least 4 proteins a week. But it is okay to go slowly when dealing with allergies & food intolerance.
