Raw Truth: How We Source Our Pet Food
We get it—when you're feeding raw, sourcing isn't just important. It's everything.
That’s why we’ve taken the time to lay it all out for you. We work with local family farms, USDA inspected butchers, and FDA licensed processors to procure the highest quality carnivore diet for your pet. Every product begins with only healthy livestock–no 3D or 4D meats. We add no denaturants, no added colors, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, and no High Pressure Pasteurization (No HPP).
We have numerous different sources for different products.
Below you can find details about the various sources that we use:
Exclusive Whole Grind Process ▼
My Pet Carnivore’s whole ground prey is a product you’ll only find here. Beyond just a prey model, this is the whole prey animal, ground meat, bone, organ, and all. The FDA licensed facility where these unique raw products are produced is located in Holland, Michigan, and produces these whole grinds exclusively for My Pet Carnivore.
This dedicated livestock slaughter and processing plant controls the whole process from start to finish. It starts with live, healthy animals—never any 3D or 4D sources. The prey animals are humanely dispatched, digestive tracks removed, then specialized machinery grinds every part of the animal together.
So, why not USDA inspected? And why isn’t it “human grade.” Great questions. First, the USDA only inspects animals intended for human consumption. Many of our other products that are not whole grinds are sourced from USDA facilities. But this plant skips just one requirement of USDA slaughter: draining the blood. Customers often find that our whole grinds have more blood than other PMR products sourced from USDA-inspected components. Our whole animal grinds are not drained in order to preserve the rich nutrients that nature intended.

Food Service Distributors ▼
We source many of our bones, organs, and cuts from the same distributors that supply restaurants and butcher shops. By buying in bulk and timing our purchases wisely, we provide your pet with fresh, high-quality ingredients—at great value—without cutting corners.

We work with small, USDA-inspected processors in Michigan and Indiana to collect parts that rarely make it into the human food system—not because they’re unfit, but because they’re undervalued. Think goat heads, spleens, pig ears, hooves, and secreting organs.
Your carnivore thrives on these whole-prey treasures, and we’re proud to give them a second life.

Small Farm Network - Maximum Traceability▼
For those discerning customers who are in search of pasture-raised livestock, hormone and antibiotic free, fed a species-appropriate diet, we have our small farm network. By partnering with family farms and show animal breeders right here in Indiana, we can go even deeper with sourcing transparency. The animals are still processed at USDA-inspected plants—but instead of heading to steak cases, they become raw food crafted for carnivore needs.
It’s small-farm integrity, built into every bite.
