Raw Feeding Enrichment: Fun Ways to Engage Your Carnivore

Providing mental and physical enrichment for your raw-fed pet is just as important as offering a balanced diet. Feeding time can be more than just nutrition—it can also be an opportunity for engagement, stimulation, and natural behaviors like chewing and problem-solving. This blog will serve as a growing collection of enrichment ideas to keep mealtime exciting and fulfilling for your pet.

Stuffed Ears: A Crunchy, Meaty Enrichment Snack!

Another fantastic way to add variety to your pet’s diet is by using stuffed ears—a delicious, engaging chew that doubles as a meaty meal component!

Stuffing Ideas:

🥩 Whole ground products for a balanced meal.
🍖 Meaty bones like duck feet for an extra crunch.
🫀 Organs for a nutrient-dense boost.
💪 Muscle meat chunks for satisfying texture.

🐄 Cow, 🐐 Goat, 🐑 Lamb, or 🐰 Rabbit ears—choose the perfect ear for your pet’s size and chewing preference!

Ways to Serve Stuffed Ears

Frozen: Extends chew time and makes for a cooling treat in warmer months.
Thawed: A softer texture for pets who prefer an easier chew.
Easy Cleanup: Feed in an easy-to-clean area or take the fun outside.

Stuffed Frames: A Full-Body Feast!

If you’re looking for a meal that’s both enriching and balanced, try stuffed frames! Chicken or duck frames make excellent raw meaty bone (RMB) bases and can be stuffed with a variety of meats and organs to create a nutrient-packed meal that also engages your pet’s natural instincts.

How to Stuff a Frame

Use the frame as your edible “bowl” and fill it with nutrient-rich goodies:

🥩 Muscle meats – Think heart, tongue, or chunks of beef, pork, or lamb.
💨 Lung – Light, airy texture adds fun variety.
🐮 Green tripe – Great for gut health and irresistible aroma.
🫀 Organs – Include liver, spleen, pancreas, and kidney for a full nutrient profile.
🐟 Whole fish – Sardines or smelt add omega-3s and an extra boost of flavor.
🐰 Rabbit feet – Add texture and natural fiber for even more enrichment.

Ways to Serve Stuffed Frames

Frozen: Perfect for longer-lasting chewing sessions and hot days.
Thawed: Easier to eat for pets that prefer softer textures.
As a meal: The frame counts as your RMB portion—just add meat and organs for a complete, balanced meal.
Outside or in a washable area: These get deliciously messy!

How to Build a Raw Birthday Cake for Your Pet

Because every carnivore deserves a celebration!

Let’s face it—our pets just don’t get to spend enough time with us. That’s why we love finding any reason to celebrate them. Birthdays, gotcha days, or just-because days... Who doesn’t love a party?

In this post, we’re adding to our enrichment series with a recipe for a raw meat birthday cake! (Or an any-occasion cake—because your carnivore doesn’t need an excuse to feast.)

This fun and festive cake is made from three layers of our ground whole products with “jelly” layers in between—actually spleen, which happens to look surprisingly like jelly. Weird, but perfect!

🧁 Ingredients & Tools:

  • "Cake" 1–3 ground whole products from My Pet Carnivore. Fine ground will make a less lump looking cake layer.
  • "Filling" Beef spleen, other ground organ, cottage cheese, yogurt, nut butter, cream cheese, or your pet's favorite spreadable food.
  • A serving dish (we love a mine PetPlatter, but a fancy cake stand works too!)
  • Optional toppings:
  • Cottage cheese, yogurt, cream cheese, or nut butter
  • Freeze-dried treats like minnows or popcorn shrimp
  • A fresh berries for color
  • Poultry feet, wing tips, rabbit feet, or goat ears for flair

🐾 How to Build It:

  1. Choose your proteins
Pick one or more of our ground whole products to be the “cake.” You’ll want a total portion that equals your pet’s normal meal.
  2. Divide & Shape
Divide your grinds into three equal parts. These will be your cake layers. If you want tidy layers, you can shape each portion into a patty or mold and freeze them individually before assembling.
  3. Layer One
Place your bottom meat layer on your serving dish. If you shaped & molded it great! If your grind is thawed you can do a bit of shaping on the serving dish if needed.
  4. Add Your "Filling"
Spread a thin layer of beef spleen over the bottom layer. Don’t love spleen? Try yogurt, cream cheese, cottage cheese, another ground organ, or even nut butter (no xylitol!).
  5. Repeat
Add your second meat layer, another layer of filling, and top it with the third meat patty.
  6. Decorate!
    Let your creativity shine!
We topped ours with cottage cheese and a strawberry for a pop of color.
You could also sprinkle freeze-dried treats around the edge or crown it with a raw meaty bone or a furry treat topper.

🎉 Want to Level It Up?

You can make a full DIY meal in cake form! Use layers of:

  • Ground heart
  • Tripe
  • Muscle meats
  • Organs
Top with turkey necks or duck heads for a dramatic finish. Want to share the celebration? Make a larger cake and slice it up for other carnivore friends.

Whether it’s your pet’s birthday or just a Tuesday, this raw cake is a fun, enriching, and totally Instagram-worthy way to show your furry companion some extra love.

Stuffed Trachea: A Delicious and Engaging Treat

One of our favorite enrichment ideas is stuffing a raw or dehydrated trachea with meaty goodness! Trachea is not only a great natural chew, but it also contributes to your pet’s meat intake, making it a fantastic addition to their diet.

How to Stuff a Trachea

You can get creative with the fillings, but here are a few of our favorite ideas:

🥩 Whole Ground or PMR Items – A balanced, nutrient-dense option that fills the trachea with a full spectrum of essential nutrients.
🐮 Green Tripe – Packed with digestive enzymes and probiotics for gut health.
🍖 Bones for a Crunch – Try adding a duck neck, a chicken foot, or another edible bone to encourage chewing.
🐰 Something Furry – A rabbit foot or another fur-on treat for a more natural feeding experience.
🫀 Organ Mix – A rich, nutrient-dense option to make sure your pet gets a variety of vitamins and minerals.
🐟 Fish – Try adding whole fish like sardines or smelt for some added omega-3s and a tasty twist.

Ways to Serve Stuffed Trachea

Frozen: Extends chew time and makes for a cooling treat in warmer months.
Thawed: A softer texture for pets who prefer an easier chew.
Sized to Fit: Have a smaller carnivore? Simply cut the trachea into smaller portions before stuffing.
Easy Cleanup: Feed in an easy-to-clean area or outside to minimize mess.
